CSDR Foundation celebrates World Environment Day with Clean and Green Drive

Centre for Social Development and Research Foundation dedicated this year's tree plantation on the occasion of World Environment Day to late Shri Anil Madhav Dave Ji, Former minister of state for Environment Forest and Climate Change. On this occasion different units of Centre For Social Development and Research (CSDR) Foundation engaged in tree plantation drive across the country. CSDR foundations member Mahendra, Pankaj, Hanisha Bhatia, Divya Agarwal  and Pooja took the charge of planting trees in the Noida area and  the  Foundation’s music team  members Chetan Arora and Sahil also  mesmerized the audience through their musical performances. Members of  Gautam Budh Jagriti Society Mr.Amit Tiwari & Neelam Joshi also participated and supported the program of tree plantation and Swatch Bharat drive of the CSDR Foundation. The team members Mrs Suchitra Chakma and Kelvin Chakma participated from Kolkata.  Mr Rashid planted trees from Dhampur whereas the M Phil scholar and Foundation’s intern Aratrika Bhadra planted trees in the JNU Campus, New Delhi.  From Gorakhpur Mr Rakesh Tiwari and Kamlesh Yadav planted trees near Rajghat river Gorakhpur.  Mr.  Anirudh Sharma planted trees in the Pataudi area of Haryana.  The caretaker of the Noida area took the responsibility that he managed very well. Managing Director of the CSDR Foundation, Mr Vivek Sharma congratulated all the team members for their tireless efforts in this summer.  Mr Vivek Sharma mentioned that within three years’ time the CSDR Foundation has moved forward in many areas with the help of the dedicated members of the Foundation who are always ready for any type of voluntary activity that is needed from time to time. Centre for Social Development and Research Foundation also got a praise from the National General Secretary of Newspaper Association of India, Mr Vipin Gaur.  He congratulated all the team members and Mr Vivek Sharma for the efforts put in by all the volunteers and members of the Foundation. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Director in an autonomous institution of Govt. of India, emphasized that while it is important to plant trees for the environment, the use of plastics, polythene, thermocol is something that is becoming essential part of our life. It takes thousands of years for these type of human produce to recycle in nature. We are creating one plastic bottle as a byproduct of even half a litre of water consumed. If our Indian traditional ways of life are part of life we can reduce carbon footprints. He requested one and all to avoid plastic glasses and other ‘use and throw’ type of products specially in parties where the usage is very high. He also called upon the governments to ban all type of polythene and plastics including thermocol except in medical use.
