Vivek Sharma, New Delhi: Noida witnessed a magnificent spectacle of grandeur as the 12th edition of the Global Festival of Journalism commenced with great pomp and show at Marwah Studio in Noida Film City. Under the esteemed chairmanship of renowned international media personality Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, the event marked a significant milestone in the realm of journalism.

The Global Festival of Journalism, with its primary objective of propagating the values of love, peace, and unity through journalism, resonated with the belief in the oneness of humanity. Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of the Center for International Journalism, emphasized the pivotal role of constructive journalism in fostering global harmony.

With participation from seventy-two countries, hosting 52 events, featuring 60 speakers from around the world, and attracting over 500 media houses, this three-day extravaganza once again surpassed its previous records, garnering the attendance of more than 20,000 individuals.

Dr. Vipin Gaur, General Secretary of the Newspaper Association of India and Principal Secretary of the Global Festival of Journalism, highlighted the evolving landscape of journalism over the past decade and underscored the enduring relevance of pen journalism. He stressed the imperative for social media platforms to uphold truth and integrity, cautioning against the dissemination of false news without due diligence.

HE Dr. Ali Achoui, Ambassador of Algeria to India, and His Excellency Dilla Lucien, Ambassador of the Republic of Chad, commended Dr. Marwah’s visionary initiative in fostering global unity through journalism, pledging their support to the mission.

Former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Deepak Singhal, lauded the festival’s role in advancing the journalistic profession and acknowledged Dr. Sandeep Marwah’s pioneering contributions across various domains.

Faya F. Milimono from the Guinean Embassy emphasized the fundamental principles of journalism, advocating for clear thinking, accurate reporting, and objectivity.

Eminent media personalities including Ranjana Singh Rathore from News Nation, Jaspreet Kaur from News 18 India, and Sumit Chaudhary from TE9 shared their insights on the occasion of International Journalism Day observed on February 12th.

The event also honored several journalists with the Mahatma Gandhi Award and Global Excellence Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the field. Notable recipients included Ram Bahadur Rai, Sunil Dang, Shamsher Singh, Himanshu Dixit, Ram Kripal Singh, Harish Burnwal, Shyam Sahay, Ashish Kumar Singh, Kishore Ajwani, Upendra Rai, Vishal Balhara, Shakti Tiwari, and Shivendra Kumar.
