Vivek Sharma, 16th July 2022, New Delhi: The K-Pop Contest 2022 announces the proud grand finale winners, Shruti Dasgupta from Kolkata in the Vocal Category and Delhi’s Mixdup in Dance Category. These two teams, along with the 1st Runner up Trend from Itanagar in dance category, will get the opportunity to represent India at the Changwon World K-POP festival, South Korea.

Delhi’s Mixdup 7 member dance team (age between 18- 22) - Vungi, Kris , Zoya, Diana, Nabby, Nunu  and Masma are passionate K-pop fans, collaborated together in July 2021 and have been practicing hard for this win. Now they are all excited for representing India at the Changwon World K-POP festival and trilled about performing in front of the live audiences after the long pandemic break. Their next plan is also to focus on their YouTube channel which is gaining a lot popularity.

The Final Round of K-POP India Contest 2022 was live screened on the Official YouTube channel of Korean Cultural Centre India, and PinkVilla simultaneously and recorded about 10,000 views. 


Owing to the COVID-19 and the safety protocols in place, it was decided that the contest will be conducted online in the current year as well. The first round or the Online Round (4th April ~ 28th April) saw a participation of 1,709 (Vocal 806, Dance 903) people from across the country. The winners of this round got to participate in the second round, or the Regional Round (23rd May ~ 12th June) conducted in 20 cities through the YouTube live streaming on the official YouTube channel of Korean Cultural Centre India and saw a viewership of 74,484 people.

The Judges of the K-Pop India Contest 2022 - Final Round were 2022 K-POP Dance Academy instructor and Choreographer, Jay Kim, along with singer and vocal trainer, Kim Seola, and Nikita Engheepi of Pink Box, an event management company. The final round saw 40 exciting performances by Vocal and Dance winners of the Regional Rounds conducted in 20 cities, as well as special performances by vocal and dance judges.

Regarding the K-POP India Contest 2022, the Director of Korean Cultural Centre India, Mr. Hwang Il-Yong said “Over the years the skills of the contestants has grown, and this time it feels like the participants were competing not as K-POP fans but as professionals. We hope to see the Indian representatives at the Changwon K-POP World Festival this year".
