22 October 2021, New Delhi: After a long interval 2 years Delhi witnessed a breath of fresh air at Textile Fairs India 2021 being held at Pragati Maidan. The exhibition was successfully able to draw the attention of buyers, manufacturers and suppliers from all across India with total 211 exhibitors participating, 60 companies coming up with their new innovative products. Lockdown had tried to pull down the market but it even gave opportunities to think and innovate. The innovations were in the segments of Fibers, Yarns, Apparel Fabrics, Denims, Trims & Embellishments, Garments and Home Textiles and Home Décor.
India has an opportunity as people are looking for products which are made in India, can buy in India and sell in India. Now India is in transition phase, said Mr. P Krishnamurthy - CEO & Executive Director, SS Textile while welcoming all.
China being blacklisted by developed nations globally over Covid has brought see of opportunities for countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh and India. The situation is also forcing us to think on the supply Chain disruption which had happened in recent past. Even SMEs and MSMEs gates of opportunities are open but they need to upgrade their quality service according to new industries demands, said ‘Thomas Varghese, Aditya Birla Group, Business Head, Textiles, Acrlyic Fibre & Overseas Spinning while inaugurating the exhibition. He added during lockdown with people working from homes, textile industry had gone through a worst period in last 18 months.
Vijay Garg from Reliance Industries ltd, Mumbai. said that today mostly polyester is being used in the apparel and after use it goes in landfill. We developed eco-wool a polyester which is bio-degradable. We have also come up with two sustainable products; Eco Gold which decomposes in 2- 3 years and Green Gold which is again eco-friendly and uses sustainable polyester. This product is recycled from 100% waste PET bottles using bio-Fuels, with traceability and certification.
RSWM limited a spinner from Rajasthan are using sustainable fibers like jutes, recycle polyester, recycled cotton, polyester, natural fibers like linen, hemp, banana, soybean fiber, Aloevera fiber, pineapple fiber, tensile, herbal dyes etc. The usage of such products will help save the environment. They also give their products an antibacterial treatment which prevents skin diseases.Kannav International from Ludhiana which is into garment accessories gets all their products imported from China. They have come up with innovative product like tapes with silicon on it, silicon with metal patches which is currently very less used in India. In Button they have metal buttons with neon colors, in Zips they have transparent fabrics behind, which is very much useful in sportswear. Heat transfer sticker is also new product which are used in the fabric which has at least more than 50% polyester content on it.
Dr. Pranesh Sridharan, India head lenzing said that Tinsel Lux is a sustainable, bio-degradable and European certified vegan, it has come up as an alternative to silk which is more comfortable with more strength also more sustainable as water consumption is 80% less than silk in the production process. It is made up of wood, 100% close loop production. Talking on the lockdown situation he said that it had impacted us but Lenzing has highly robotic and automated plants, so the production wasn’t hampered. Supply chain got effected but with market re-opening we are prepared with our stocks.
During this fair a seminar was organized on ‘Textile Forecast for Men's/Women's for season Autumn/Winter 2022/23’, by WSGN. Mr. Puneet Dudeja, Director of New Business (South Asia). He said ‘We are looking at protective textiles, matte finishes, performance wear fabrics, which is going to be the key trend. Consumer is coming from a pandemic situation so safety is priority. The forum showcased the current and upcoming trends for the forthcoming seasons and features seasonal highlights for Colors, Print & Pattern, Silhouettes and Fabrics at length. The Forum has been inspiring creative professionals across the industry and has become a source of inspiration and creation, and a business accelerator for the fair.
